There has a bridge crossing the Thames at the site of the current London Bridge for around 2000 years. Over the years, the bridge has been destroyed by war, storm and fire and, of course, rebuilt. The current bridge was opened in 1973 - the previous one having been sold to Robert McCulloch in 1968.
