When is Carnival held?

Traditionally, Carnival is held in areas where there is a large Catholic population. It is celebrated right before Lent. Brazil has a huge Carnival celebration in Rio de Janeiro. Other countries that have Carnival celebrations include Colombia, Panama, and the United States has Mardis Gras in New Orleans.
