Social effects on women during world war 2?

Women dressed very plainly during World War II. Nylons were not worn because the fabric was needed for the military. They wore suits or clothing suitable for working. Hair cuts were plain because women were saving money and most of the men were in the service.
Most women in the military served as nurses.
