Why do some men grow long hair?

I am not sure if this is 100% correct, but, i think that some dude thought of it and wore it out to school or something, a popular girl thought it looked hot, so other dudes wore their hair like that and it just spread. that is just my opinion, cause i think that most dudes with long hair are hot.
