What dose alkali feel like?

Things that are strongly alkaline tend to taste bitter. Most foods that humans consume, however, are either neutral or acidic so there are not many foods that humans regularly consume that are alkaline. (Milk has a pH of 8, but its mild alkalinity is mostly covered up by the presence of lactose. Apples, which taste mild, have a pH of 5.)
