Were the Aztecs cruel people

I have been studying the Aztec's in school and your question could be considered as an opinion. I used to view the Aztec's as a savage people, however as I learned more, I realized they were not. The Aztecs believed that they had to give their Gods human blood or that their world would end. I hope this is helpful!
