Where is the setting in inkdeath?

The exact setting of book is not entirely specified. The reader is informed that Capricorn's hideout etc is in Italy, however one does not know where Meggie and Mo live in the beginning. Judging by the fact that it is only a relatively short drive to Elinor's house, and that Cornelia Funke is German, it would be safe to assume that the book takes place in Germany and Italy.
