If I buy a laptop case that is too big for my laptop does this mean that my laptop will bounce around more and thus be protected less?

A laptop bag that is too big can pose a problem if the size difference is significant. A little bit of space won't hurt but a 15" Macbook inside a 17" bag may be too large and cause it to shift and bump around a lot.
