Any issue that needs to be resolved, requires taking some action. In that, there is usually full agreement. But every resolution contains conflict. Individuals and groups all have opinions on how best to resolve the issue and they can sometimes differ to the extreme. Regardless of whether options for resolution are given to the public for a vote, or given to those who represent the public interest to decide, prudent people will consider carefully all of the options and decide the best course of action to satisfy the greatest number of people. If you can not compromise and combine those ideas, you have to respect the ideas of majority and make a decision.

The saying,"there

is more than one way to skin a cat", means that there will always be more than one way to solve a problem. If we don't pick your way, it doesn't mean we don't respect it. It only means that more people felt

another way better.

Lack of respect for the minority is most often a claim MADE by the minority, because they did not get their way. It is not necessarily the way the majority feels.
