Since 2000, San Clemente, CA, has recorded some of its highest temperatures during summer months. Notably, temperatures reached around 100°F (38°C) in August 2009 and again in September 2010. Another significant high occurred in September 2016, when the temperature also approached the century mark. These extreme temperatures are relatively rare for the coastal region, which typically enjoys a milder climate.
