The Conservative party was originally called the tory party but some time in the late 19th or early 20th century they changed to the conservative party.

The conservative party is a centre right party that follows the ideas of conservatism (basically, if it doesnt need changing, don't change it) The party believes in the freedom of capital and of trade and stresses on the privatisation of government owned assets.
