Why do some christians support equal rights for women in religion and why do some not?

Some people on both sides of that argument sincerely believe that their positions have scriptural support. Arguably, some others among those who oppose equal rights for women and others are actually demonstrating their innate hypocrisy.

The ones who don't seem to support equal rights believe that God created men and women for different goals and purposes. They believe that men were created to be the spiritual leaders of the home and the greater society.
