What equipment is used to pick up a earthworm?

You can pick one up with your fingers - use thin gloves if you are squeamish - but carefully so you don't injure it. Alternatively slide something thin like a piece of card under it. If it's partially inside it burrow you won't pick it up without killing it, because it will expand its body to grip the burrow wall.
