Yes. It ticks like a clock. Sometimes loud enough for others to hear it especially in a quiet room. You can wear an analog watch (a watch with hands, not digital) and blame the noise on the watch when around other people (like in a meeting). After having the valve for a while you will begin to get used to the noise and naturally disregard it. I hope this helps.
