Why did Malcolm lochhead decided to go into embroidery?

Good Qustion. I went to the School of Art to study Interior Design but was advised by a year tutor that this metier was not for me and that I should study something involving two-dimensional design...like mural pailting. I had been very intrigued by the presentation made by Katleen Whyte the legendary embroiderer and elected to study with her and the rest, as they say, is history!
