Computers are not perfect. From the moment one is turned on it can began to build "crud", that is useless materials. It can also make mistakes. For most everything ones does on the computer, the computer generates "temporary" files that it alone uses. This is a standard occurance when on the internet. Much of this does not voluntarily go away. If one is on the "net" doing anything, searching, downloading, etc, temp. files are made. Further, many websites download cookies, spyware and various materials that remain on the computer though one leaves the site. A history trail is created of the site and remains. Very importantly the "register" can be added to and changes made that aids others, information gathering and such. And no, they do not ask, or have to. The registry is a critical area and must be kept clean. There are numerous sites for freeware where necessary cleaners can be obtained. There are spyware and spybot removers, registry cleaners, history removers, adware removers, disk cleaners(to clear unneeded junk) and so forth. There are some Excellent programs with all in one utilities. Experience has shown that more than one of these programs should be used as one program will pick up on things the other may have missed. Giveaway of the day gives a new program every day. Ask a search engine for "freeware", many sites exist, then go to utilities and searh for these programs. Also go to a freeware site and ask the site to search for "Cleaners', fixers, etc. The more crud on the computer, the more the computer must deal through to do what one asks of it. If it gets too bad, one may have to backup any additional programs desired and reboot the entire system if one has reboot discs.

Pctools makes Spyware Doctor and for another 10 bucks you can put anti-virus with it. I have used dang near every free tool available and NOTHING compares to a paid version of this stuff . it will catch a Trojan faster than any anti-virus I have ever used and I have used the paid version of about 5. My brother in law as using a top rated anti-virus and a popular paid anti-spyware plus 2 free versions. I ran this and found 487 pieces of spyware/adware on it ;same for another person but found 667 ; when this high degree if crap infects your system it WILL ruin your operating system .If you do use the anti-virus version you must remove the old one use add /delete programs then do a search on (ex, norton removal tool) the manufacture should have a tool available , if you do not you WILL have problems!! also Crap Cleaner is a good free/donation tool , and pctools has a regristry mechanic that will find an stagering amount of crud in registry (buy it as a combo for a reduced rate) and do keep up updates on the pctools and Windowz current . I checked a guys system about 2 years ago and his def. were 18 months old! Spyware is a very aggressive problem.
