When does charlie know Bella has changed?

Charlie doesn't know that Bella changed into a vampire, as it was on a "need to know" bases, but he did realise that she had changed after Jacob Black shifted in front of him. Jacob then told Charlie to see Bella, and that is when he realised she wasn't exactly who she used to be.
