"Del" is the contraction of de (of, from) and el (the).
"de" (from, or belonging to)
"el" ("the" but only for male Words)
so "del" is the same as "de el", you can use both but is basically for linguistic agility. Note: you can't use either. You always use the contraction unless it's a proper noun! example - He is from El Salvador. Es de El Salvador.
"del" has different meanings according to the context, but basically means:
from the...
expl:
ella viene del mercado
she comes from the market
ese libro es del maestro
that book belongs to the teacher (male teacher)
in the case of female worlds it's the exact same translation in english, only in spanish it's always "de la" instead of "de el"
expl:
ella viene de la tienda
she comes from the store
ese libro es de la maestra
that book belongs to the teacher (female teacher)
