X-ray Crystallography is a method of determining the arrangement of atoms within a crystal, in which a beam of X-ray strikes a crystal and diffracts into many specific directions.

Procedure:

  1. The crystal is brought into the vicinity of the X-rays introduced by an X-ray source.
  2. The diffraction from the crystal is made possible.
  3. The diffracted beam is observed upon the collecting photographic film.

Methods for X-ray Crystallography:

  • Lauve Method
  • Rotating crystal method
  • Powder Method
