The black rose, known as Les Fluers du mal (the flower of evil) it is a staple of Gothic and Horror stories.

The term is the title of a book of french poetry byCharles Baudelaire. First published in 1857

Brian Stableford wrote a short story entitled Les Fluers du Mal in which the rose is a predatory plant used in assassinations.
