Is there a charity that will pay for medical bills?

If the charges were incurred at a hospital (especailly state-funded hospitals) some of them offer what are called "charity write-offs". One program is called "helping hands". Technically they do not pay them, but you will not be responsible. They base it off of income, job status, situation etc.
