Is noelle a good name for a mermaid?

Noelle is too closely tied to the Christmas season- it is a femininization of the French Word for the Holiday- Noel. I would suggest something non-religious and sounding classical- Aquatica, Marina, etc. I cannot fathom out ( no pun intended) why Disney Org decided to call their money-making Mermaid by the name of Ariel, which is atmospheric, not maritime.
