How long does it take layers to lay eggs?

Most breeds will start about 4 to 6 months old and lay their first "test" egg. These can be very small and often have no yolk. It only take a few days after the first egg for them to get into a rhythm and produce eggs regularly. Some breeds however will take longer to mature.
