What are the advantages of inflatable canoes?

Mainly storage issues. An inflatable weighs in at about 10-12 kg and packs down to a roll 50 cm long and 30 cm thick. Other advantages may be resistance to crush damages, buoyancy when water filled, perhaps some thermal insulation from the water temperature, but they're all dwarfed by the advantage of a canoe that comes pretty close to being accepted as carry-on luggage.
