It is called the Papillary layer. The dermis is made up of papillary layer & Reticular layer. The papillary layer is loose connective tissue. Allows movement of epidtermis & contains capillaries therfore, regulates body temperature also has Meissner's corpuscle that are touch receptors w/ nerve endings for temperature and pain.
