Rome grew up on Etruscan and Latin culture, until the made contact with the Greek culture, first with the Greek cities in southern Italy, then in Sicily , and more so when they moved into Greece. Most of the aristocracy of Rome were philhellene (loved things Greek) though they didn't think much of the Greeks as people
thoroughly for artifacts, and copied its building, philosophy, rhetoric and arts.
