Why was the first three wheeled automobile created?

In some ways, a 3-wheeled vehicle is easier. It'll always have all wheels on the ground w/o the need of any moving suspension for instance. Steering can be built with fewer parts etc.

And that's it really. 3-wheel vehicles can be built simpler and with fewer parts.
