Why did Jesus come to earth and what was his purpose?

Jesus came to earth to save humanity from sin and to offer salvation and eternal life to those who believe in him. His purpose was to fulfill the prophecies of the Old Testament, to teach about God's love and forgiveness, and to ultimately sacrifice himself on the cross to atone for the sins of mankind.
