The children of King George II of Great Britain did not succeed him primarily because his son, Frederick, Prince of Wales, died in 1751 before he could ascend the throne. George II's other children, including his daughter, Anne, and his younger son, William, held no claim to the throne as they were not the direct heirs. Upon George II's death in 1760, the crown passed to his grandson, George III, as Frederick had predeceased him.
