What is the woods-devil?

It is a short story that takes place in the North Woods of Maine. A boy named Nathan must go check the animal traps because his father is unable to due to an injury. Nathan kills a wolverine who has destroyed what would have been his families wealth. Nathan becomes a man and makes his family pround because of it.
