After 1807, two areas in New Providence settled by liberated Africans were the neighborhoods of Bain Town and Grants Town. These communities emerged as a result of the British abolition of the transatlantic slave trade, providing a space for freed individuals to establish their homes and livelihoods. Over time, these areas developed distinct cultural and social identities, contributing to the rich tapestry of Bahamian heritage.
