The stereotype would be the 'normal type' or point-of-reference that all other individuals would be measured against.

For example: He was the stereotypical high school bully save for the fact that he was fascinated with flowers and objects of art of a disturbingly Raphealian era.

In a scientific real the stereotype would be referred to as a control sample.
