Which religion contributes most to charity?

When I see how people of the Muslim faith invariably give to beggars, for example, in the Paris Metro, and these same people appear to be of modest means themselves and when the big majority of the travellers totally ignore any appeals for charity, I'm inclined to think that the answer to this question must be, the Muslim religion.
