Why did people start campaigning against the slave trade?

Well first of all it was wrong, It was Abolished but owning a slave was still legal until 1833. To many slaves died on the voyage also the slaves started to rebel against their leaders in the West Indies. It was all these Historic people who had the Slave trade abolished
