Self catering seems to be the generally accepted term in all countries that speak or use the English language. It implies that the guest takes responsibility for the preparation of his own meals and usually that the accommodation is fully equipped to enable the guests and his family to do so. The term self catering is used extensively in the accommodation industry in South Africa to distinguish from a hotel, guesthouse or a B&B.
