Why do we waste our youth?

When the flesh is fresh and hale

and Pleasure's fruits hang low and sweet,

other, higher pleasures pale

and strength and youth soon dissipate

like mist, burned off by the sun

of twice-lived days and empty nights.

We waste youth because our minds are not mature enough to realise the full importance of life and youth.
