What makes something Eco friendly?

"eco friendly' can be a claim companies can purchase by paying to use a stamp or seal of a "green certification" organization. To be eligable for the seal the applicant company may need to adhere to some minimal to more stringent manufacturing practises that represent environmental awareness, such as using post consumer materials or plant based packaging, right down to more complicated manufacturing requirements involving energy usages or carbon credits. SUSTAINABLE is a less "greenwashed" term which basically means creating something for the present that will not negatively effect generations to come, even when the original consumer is gone.
