When was independence day declared a national holiday?

In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14th of each year and celebrates the adoption of the American flag, which took place June 14th, 1777. June 14th was proclaimed a Holiday by Woodrow Wilson in 1949 although it is not yet recognized as a Federal Holiday.
