What would cause the engine to idle high when shifting between gears 3000 rpm in a 5sd 1999 SL?

you may be able to get it scanned for codes for free from the local parts store. Could be anything from TPS throttle position sensor to MAF mass air flow etc etc. Hard to know w/o knowing engine codes.
