The rule of rounding numbers is that if a number is 4 or less it becomes 0, and if a number is 5 or more it becomes a 0 and the number immediately to the left of it increases by 1.
Let us write the number 1234567 properly and it becomes 1,234,567 (or one million, two hundred and thirty-four thousand, five hundred and sixty-seven)
We can now see that the number in the ten thousand position is a 3 and this is the digit that we shall be rounding up, or down, to.
That means that we need to look at the number to the right (the one in the thousands position), where we see a 4.
Because a 4 is rounded down that 4 becomes a 0 and so we now have 1,230,000 (or one million, two hundred and thirty thousand)
