What is buddy in Spanish?

There is no direct Word for "buddy" in spanish. A lot depends of where you are or who you are saying this to. Below are some of the most used Words to mean good, close friend. Most of them are for friendships between two guys. Not many for two women.

Compadre (male-to-male only- pal, buddy)

Pana (slang, friend or pal - Carribean, northern South America)

Mano (taken from "hermano" meaning brother)

Cuate (mexican slang)

Carnal (Mexican Slang - of the same flesh (Brother))

Amigote (big friend)

Compañero (companion - in Spanish it doesn't have the "couple" overtones)
