Why was the spoon invented?

The spoon was invented to scoop soft and liquid type food and lift it to the mouth. Prior to the invention of the spoon bread was used to sop up liquids like soup or stew. The first spoons were made of materials that were handy in that area. Some were made of bone and others were carved from wood.
