1) Right-click the icon you want to make invisible and in the menu that appears choose Properties.
2) Press the Change Icon button.
3) Click the Browse button and locate the file Shell32.dll in your Windows\System32 directory.
4) Find a transparent icon (it looks like a blank space between other icons), select it and press OK.
5) To hide the label, right-click it and choose Rename. Hold the Alt key and dial 0160 on the numeric keyboard (the Num Lock key must be on).
The next step requires changing the Registry settings. Be very careful about it and make sure that you change exactly what is written here!
6) In some versions of Windows you may have a small arrow remaining on the desktop at this point. To hide it, go to the Start menu, click Run and enter regedit.exe. Locate the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Inkfile' registry key, delete the IsShortcut parameter and restart the computer.
