Van Mahotsav, or Tree Planting Day, was founded by K. M. Munshi, an Indian politician, and writer, in 1950. The celebration is aimed at promoting tree planting and raising awareness about the importance of forests and the environment. It is observed annually in the first week of July in India. The initiative encourages people to plant trees and take steps towards environmental conservation.
