All vitamins by definition are required in tiny amounts by the body. Different government databases and dietary sources recommend different daily amounts of Vitamin C, with the lowest being 40 milligrams and the highest being 90 milligrams. Vitamin C is water soluble, so if you do take "too much" of it, virtually all of the excess will leave the body through urination, but most sources agree that you should not go over 2 grams (2,000 milligrams) per day. High doses like that may lead to diarrhea, which is not very pleasant.
