Having been an avid drinker, and a diabetic for ten years plus, I find that I can drink as much red wine as I like, without raising my blood sugar level. However, if I drink a substantial amount of red wine and eat along with it, my level does get rather high (200+). But again, just drinking red wine with food causes no discernible rise in sugar levels...and believe me, I have monitored the foregoing thoroughly.
By the way, I am 67 years old.
