Why did the tlaxcaltecas come to saltillo?

The Tlaxcaltecas, indigenous people from present-day Tlaxcala, Mexico, came to Saltillo primarily to support Spanish conquistadors in their campaign against the Aztec Empire. Their alliance was motivated by a desire for autonomy and the opportunity to eventually gain land and resources.
