What are challenges in a diverse society?

In a diverse society institutions hold the most responsibility in regards to fair & equal treatment of its citizenry. They have the power to either move society ahead in upward bounds or keep society lagging behind all based on how equally treatment is netted out. Example 1...if a financial institution increases the interest rate based solely on the race of the applicant it negatively affects the industry as a whole (read the secret cost to being black) Example 2... if the school systems curriculum don't reflect said diverse society then the students suffer. No wonder the US is lagging behind other countries in areas of education.
