In areas of the country where the water is hard what problem can occur when washing with soap?

Since hard water contains a high concentration of calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), and iron (Fe3+) ions, insoluble salts tend to form with the soap causing soap scum rings on surfaces, greasy residue on hands and a greying of clothes.
