Direct guidance refers to helper suggestions, directives or advice used to influence an individual's behavior. It can be verbal or physical in form of advice given.
Examples are:
When asked if he should stay home and work on a project that is due soon at school or go out with friends, the parent advises that he stay home and do the project.
When a parent sees her teenaged son getting ready to go out, she reminds him of the report he has due at school the following day and gently suggests that he stay home to get it done.
A friend of a girl who just broke up with her boyfriend overhears that her friend plans to beat the girl up on Friday night. She asks her friend to go to a movie that they both have been wanting to see on Friday night.
